Google Analytics[1][2][3][4] (GA) ist eine kostenfreie, webbasierte, proprietäre Webanalysesoftware auf Basis von Urchin[5][6]: Google Analytics generiert in Echtzeit[7] detaillierte Daten, Statistiken und Auswertungen für die Webanalyse, speziell Klickpfadanalyse. Google Analytics ist die mit Abstand am häufigsten eingesetzte Webanalysesoftware mit einem Marktanteil von etwa 50%.[8][9][10] Professionelle Analysewerkzeuge, eine starke Marketingorientierung und die tiefe Integration von Google AdWords[11][12] haben Google Analytics zu einem De-facto-Standard für Webanalyse und Onlinemetriken[13] gemacht.

Datenschutz

Unter Gesichtspunkten von Datenschutz und Privatsphäre ist Google Inc. speziell wegen Google Analytics weltweit[14] umstritten[15][16][17][18]: Für Deutschland wurde die datenschutzrechtlich beanstandungsfreie Nutzung behördlich bestätigt.[19] Lokal installierbare und Open Source-Lösungen (etwa Piwik) wollen Alternativen bieten.
